Azov residents, who returned to the territory controlled by Ukraine as a result of the exchange of prisoners of war, will tell about the terrible crimes of the occupiers, which they saw with their own eyes and experienced in captivity. These are the fighters “Wikipedia”, “Mango” and “Vishnya”. Their stories are important evidence for future legal proceedings against the Russian executioners, who continue to commit lawless actions in the occupied Ukrainian territories.
After returning from captivity, the suffering of these boys ended. But their comrades are still in a place where they experience again and again every day: interrogations, beatings, torture, hunger and insidious terrorist attacks with public executions. All these are terrible realities in which the defenders of Mariupol do not live, but simply exist, since they fell into the hands of Russian killers.
There are no norms and conventions enforced in the occupied territories and the territory of Russia itself, according to which Ukrainian soldiers should be kept safe. Representatives of human rights organizations have consistently been denied access to prisoners. This has freed the hands of Russia, to torture the prisoners of “Azovstal” in order to extract evidence in the so-called tribunal.
The trial of defenders from “Azovstal”, which contradicts the norms of all legal systems, may take place in the near future. The further fate of Ukrainian soldiers depends heavily on the reaction of the international community, Ukrainians themselves and our military-political leadership.
